What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that aims to balance and harmonize the energy within the body to promote healing and wellness. The word "Reiki" is derived from the Japanese words "rei" which means universal, and "ki" which means life energy or vital force. It is based on the belief that there is a universal energy that flows through all living things, and that when this energy is disrupted, it can lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.
During a Reiki session, a practitioner uses their hands to channel this energy into the recipient's body through a series of hand positions on or near the body. The recipient remains fully clothed and can either sit or lie down during the session. The goal is to restore the balance of energy within the body, which can help alleviate stress, anxiety, pain, and other health issues.
Reiki is often used in conjunction with other therapies and is considered a complementary therapy rather than a standalone treatment. While research on Reiki is limited, some studies suggest that it may help reduce pain, anxiety, and depression, and improve overall well-being.
Reiki is non-invasive and generally considered safe for most people. However, it's important to consult with a qualified practitioner before undergoing a session, especially if you have a medical condition or are taking medication.
